The 64th edition of the biggest music night began with Silk Sonic winning the Grammys in 3 categories, including Song of the Year – one of the three major awards – for their single Leave the door open. The group project of Bruno Mars, Brandon Anderson, Christopher Brody Brown, Dernst Emile II also won best R&B song as well as best R&B performance. Olivia Rodrigo won Best New Artist and Best Pop Solo Performance. The rock band Foo Fighters won best rock performance, best rock album and best rock song – Foo Fighters are not at the Grammys this year after drummer Taylor Hawkins’ death; they were supposed to perform.
The host of the 64th Grammy Awards is Trevor Noah, who is hosting the second year in a row. The Grammys were to be held in January and were postponed due to an increase in COVID numbers due to the Omicron variant.
Jon Batiste leads the nominated list this year with 11 nods, followed by Doja Cat, HERE and Justin Bieber with 8 nominations each.
