#RESTORETHESNYDERVERSE Trends on Twitter again after Warner Bros.-Discovery Merger Announcement

It was recently announced that Discovery’s acquisition of WarnerMedia had been completed. Now #RestoreTheSnyderVerse is trending on Twitter again.

Zack Snyder’s vision for the DC Universe ended with the 2021’s Zack Snyders Justice League. But fans of the director have not been happy that the director is stepping away before completing the arc he had envisioned for DC’s live-action franchise. This has led to the hashtag #RestoreTheSnyderVerse appearing on Twitter more than once. Now the movement has reappeared, apparently due to Discovery’s acquisition of WarnerMedia.

It was announced on April 8 that Discovery had officially closed its $ 43 billion purchase of WarnerMedia, where Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav stated:

Today’s announcement marks an exciting milestone, not only for Warner Bros. Discovery, but for our shareholders, our distributors, our advertisers, our creative partners and, most importantly, consumers globally. […] With our collective assets and diversified business model, Warner Bros. offers. Discovery the most differentiated and complete portfolio of content across movies, TV and streaming. We are convinced that we can give consumers across the globe more choice, while promoting creativity and creating value for shareholders. I can not wait for both teams to come together to make Warner Bros. Discovery to the best place for effective storytelling. “

Shortly after the acquisition became official, #RestoreTheSnyderVerse started trending on Twitter. While the purchase is not the focus of every tweet, there is a widespread feeling among a large number of the reactions shared:

Discovery’s collaborative nature

As previously mentioned, fans have started various campaigns for Warner Bros. to continue Zack Snyder’s DC Universe over the years. Some come from anniversaries, and others from WB-considerations Zack Snyders Justice League a success. If this new push is really due to Discovery completing its acquisition of WarnerMedia, the aforementioned attempts raise the question: What about the $ 43 billion acquisition that makes it possible to continue Snyder-Verse?

Although it is difficult to pinpoint a specific cause, it may be due to Discovery’s reported collaborative nature. As The Hollywood Reporter explained: “For former WarnerMedia employees, observers predict a culture change from the AT&T days. While driven and results-focused, [Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav] has a reputation for a less formal and collaborative management approach than top executives at AT&T, who see him call or talk to executives fairly regularly. “

But assuming that is actually what drives Snyder’s fanbase to advocate for the director’s DC Universe to continue, it’s not necessarily realistic to expect Discovery’s business approach to have such an outcome. Da Warner Bros. Discovery now has one of the most extensive media libraries in the entertainment industry, Zaslav’s collaborative nature will most likely be spread across the company’s various content offerings and not just focused on DC.

The next episode of DC’s live-action movie franchise, Black Adamis scheduled to be released on October 21, 2022. It will be followed by Shazam! The wrath of the gods (December 16, 2022) and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (March 17, 2023).
