During the sit-down, the 27-year-old actress talked about various elements of the project’s production and teased the work of a potential follow-up film.

The upcoming DC Comics-based film has been under development for several years, and it is currently set to be released to the public later this year.

Grace began by talking about the first time she put on the superhero costume and saw herself in a mirror.

“I think that was the first real moment where I thought, ‘Oh, wow, we’re here. I’m doing this. As if I’m really Batgirl. “It’s still hard for me to say that. But yeah, it was a surreal experience, she said.

The In The Heights star then talked about her character and how she had to push herself to portray her effectively.

‘She certainly surpasses what I thought. I had to name some things in me that I did not even know were there, “she said.

Grace continued to discuss her time working with her teammates, noting that one in particular was fun to be around.

‘It was an incredibly educational experience to be on the set with action veterans like Brendan Fraser and enjoy it all. “It was so hard because he’s our villain and I’m not supposed to like him, but he’s such a giant teddy bear,” he said.

However, the performer pointed out that playing Batgirl often made her physically exhausted.

She remembered: ‘There were many long days, but it was so worth it. But oh my god, never in my life have I been so tender or exhausted. There were some days I came home and I thought, “Do I want to eat, or do I just have to fall asleep?”

Grace also noted that it was particularly impressive to see Michael Keaton play Caped Crusader.

‘It was wild for everyone … I want to say more, but I can not. It was insane, surreal, incredible. It really was the substance of dreams, ‘she said.

The Latin Grammy-nominated singer then stated that she felt she had to earn the respect of other artists who had previously played superheroes.

“I was just like, ‘Oh, man, I hope I can do this.’ Am I in the club? “I almost felt like I was having a scam all the time. You want to earn your place,” she said.

Grace was then asked about a potential successor to the function, and she noted that the project’s producers wanted to see how their first efforts unfolded with the audience.

‘We have to see this first one first. But there is definitely some talk about what it could be. I’ve seen some of what we’ve shot, of course in the playback and stuff like that, and it’s insane, she said.

However, the performer stated that the film crew measured their options for the future.

“We’ve already talked about where we should take it from here because there’s so much going on in this film,” she said.

Development on Batgirl originally began in 2017, when Joss Whedon was asked to lead the project.

The producer left the film’s team the following year, and Christina Hodson signed the script in April.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah later joined the project as its directors last May, and Grace was hired as its lead in July.

Other actresses who were considered for the role of Batgirl included Zoey Deutch, Isabela Merced and Haley Lu Richardson.
