AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT custom models are as expensive as NVIDIA’s RTX 3090 Ti in early ads, priced at $ 2400 US

AMD’s soon to be released Radeon RX 6950 XT flagship graphics card will be an expensive graphics card if the early lists are to pass. The card, which will be part of the RDNA 2 refresh GPU lineup, has been built by an Australian retailer with prices similar to NVIDIA’s RTX 3090 Ti card.

AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT graphics cards are expected to be announced soon and we are now seeing dealers list them down. Gigabyte appears to be working on its own custom model, the RX 6950 XTGaming OC, which has been listed for $ 3241.54 AUD or just over $ 2400 USD. This pricing is very close to custom models of the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card and a difference of $ 1200- $ 1000 AUD between the custom RX 6900 XT models listed by the same retailer. Now that this is a preliminary listing, we will definitely see much lower prices as the new map approaches street launch, but for now, expect similar prices.

Update of AMD Radeon RX 6000 XT RDNA 2 graphics card

The AMD Navi 21, Navi 22 and Navi 33 GPUs are the ones that will be updated for the upcoming Radeon RX 6X50 XT lineup. The AMD Navi 21 GPU currently drives the Radeon RX 6900 XT, RX 6800 XT & RX 6800, while the Navi 22 GPU drives the RX 6700 XT and the Navi 23 GPU drives the RX 6600 XT & 6600 on the desktop platform. The graphics cards will have 18 Gbps of memory along with some clock enhancements.

From the previous rumor, we found out that these cards would also have 18 Gbps GDDR6 memory slots. Currently, all cards except the upcoming RX 6500 XT and the flagship RX 6900 XT LC have 16 Gbps memory. The bump to 18 Gbps may provide higher bandwidth and increase performance by 2-5%, but that does not indicate a big difference with the updated series. There will obviously be some process improvements incorporated in the new RDNA 2 refresh GPUs, as we have heard rumors that the RX 6950 XT clocks above 2.5 GHz.

It would have been worth it if AMD gave its existing desktop GPUs the 6nm processing power and managed to get more performance out of them, but that clearly does not happen. It seems that this soft update will include both reference ‘midnight black’ and custom model designs.

There would also be a slight price difference and TGP numbers are expected to increase slightly with the addition of the faster memory chips. These GPUs are likely to compete with Intel’s advanced ARC Alchemist GPUs, which will be launched in a few months, while the Radeon RX 6950 XT flagship is clearly aimed at NVIDIA’s RTX 3090 Ti graphics card, which is a power-hungry insanity.
